It is designed to develop teachers and investigators in the clinical and basic medical sciences. The program provides students with the opportunity to study a basic biomedical science in depth and to do advanced research in some aspect of that subject while concurrently pursuing studies leading to the medical degree. This training develops the academic skills and the laboratory techniques that are necessary for an effective experimental approach to problems in basic and clinical medical sciences.
