The SSP program educates future psychologists with the essential entry-level competencies to serve in the schools by providing a sequential set of experiences which have been planned with reference to the standards and criteria of the National Association of School Psychologist (NASP) as well as the guidelines for training which have been developed through the collaboration of the directors of university school psychology programs in Illinois, the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), and the Illinois School Psychologists Association (ISPA). The program is based on the scientist-practitioner training model with a developmental-ecological orientation. Graduates work primarily in public/private elementary and high schools. The program requires an applied research experience in School Psychology or a thesis and a minimum of 60 hours of graduate credit including a year's internship.

Accreditation Information: The program is approved by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP).
