Energy conversion is a discipline that spans across three departments: Electrical, Mechanical and Chemical and Nuclear Engineering. There is interest in this discipline for practical applications in the housing industry for supplying houses with clean sources of energy to meet the electrical supply needs, as well as space heating/cooling. All renewable energy sources will be considered such as wind energy and photovoltaics. Knowledge about batteries, battery charging stations, battery chargers and energy conversion devices (such as rectifiers, inverters, choppers, controllers) is also presented as related to the development of low emission vehicles. The graduate certificate is designed to educate professionals in this important area of technology.
