The program prepares school psychologists to work with children and adolescents in schools and related human service agencies. School psychologists conduct psychological, educational and behavioral assessments, counsel children and parents, consult with teachers and parents, as well as do in-service training and program planning and evaluation. Northeastern University offers two routes to becoming a school psychologist: Master of Science (MS)/Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS) in School Psychology and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in School Psychology. Distinctive features of both programs include: urban and culturally diverse field placements and applied research projects; early childhood emphasis; prevention of academic, emotional, and behavioral problems; highly collaborative and student-centered faculty; and strong and supportive student cohort groups.
