The Doctoral (Ph.D.) and the Master's (M.A.) program are designed to integrate practice and science throughout the professional lifespan. Whether your goal is direct client services, a career in academia, or provide consultative services, our program can provide you opportunities to hone your skills. For the Counseling Psychology Ph.D., we admit approximately six students from a national applicant pool each year. Both students who have previously completed a master's degree in counseling, psychology, or a related discipline, and students who have only completed a bachelor's degree in related disciplines are admitted. The program requires a minimum of three years in residence for post-master's degree students and four to five years for post-bachelor's degree (direct admit) students and an APA-approved, year-long internship. The program provides doctoral-level training for work in many different employment settings involving the professional practice of Counseling Psychology. Graduates are eligible to apply for licensure as a psychologist in all states. For the M.A. in Counseling program, we admit approximately 20 students each year. M.A. training includes both practice and research in counseling.
