Geophysics graduate research at Binghamton University has three main facets: tectonics and mountain-building; seismology, including crust and upper mantle structure, hazards, and wave propagation theory; and general geophysics, including core-mantle coupling and mechanical interactions between ocean, atmosphere, and solid earth. Graduate work typically combines observation and theory or modeling. Admission is competitive, with most of our graduate students supported through research (or teaching) assistantships; for Fall semester entry, applications should be completed by the preceding February 1.
