The master's degree program in Counselor Education at Duquesne is one of only eight programs that are nationally accredited in Pennsylvania. The Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Program’s (CACREP) approval of the Duquesne program permits graduates to apply for national certification while in the last semester of study; this can save the graduate two years of post master's experience. The School Counseling program requires a minimum of 60 semester hours for the degree and endorsement for the Educational Specialist I Certificate for Elementary and Secondary School Counseling in Pennsylvania.
