The Educational Studies program is a 30-credit hour program (36 credits with a thesis) that leads to a Master of Science in Educational Studies from Duquesne University. The program provides considerable flexibility for qualified individuals from a variety of professional backgrounds who seek professional credentials in education. Although the program does not lead to additional certifications, those who have initial certification in Pennsylvania can earn their permanent teaching certification and/or satisfy the requirements for continuing licensure (Act 48). The program has also served practicing and aspiring educators who live or work at some distance from the Duquesne campus through an online degree program offered through the Center for Advancing the Study of Teaching and Learning (CASTL). The online program has allowed educators from outside of Pennsylvania to take advantage of this innovative program to earn their degrees.
