Visual art educators have an excellent opportunity to obtain a Master of Science in Education with a concentration in art education at the University of Dayton. Building on a background in art education, offering unique opportunities to engage in research, and allowing candidates to set their own pace, the degree program is especially suited for teachers. The program, featuring the study of visual art in the context of general education, is a joint effort of the School of Education and Allied Professions and the College of Arts and Sciences. This is the only program of its kind offered in the greater Dayton area. The curriculum consists of specific core requirements and an art education concentration. The Department of Visual Arts educates students in the disciplines of art education, art history, fine arts studio, photography, and visual communication design. We are committed to providing a sound visual arts education within the broader context of liberal arts learning.
