Historically, the M.Div. degree has been the recommended program for those preparing for ordination. The M.Div. program requires a core of biblical, theological, and applied ministry studies. In addition, students select an elective track consisting either of a ministry specialization or a self-designed sequence of electives approved by a faculty mentor.     Accreditation Information: Western Seminary is accredited to award master's and doctor's degrees by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU), and is an accredited member of the Association of Theological Schools (ATS) in the United States and Canada.  # Of Credits Required: 90  Time To Degree:     Previous Degrees applicants for the M.Div. program are expected to present an accredited baccalaureate degree (or its equivalent) with a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher (on a 4.0 scale), including a breadth of liberal arts. Applicants who do not meet these general academic requirements may petition the Admissions Committee for consideration.  Pre-Requisite Courses International Student Requirements Prior to applying to Western Seminary, international students must complete a Pre-Application that can be requested from the Admissions Department. If an international student is encouraged to apply to Western Seminary, he or she is required to provide a financial guarantee that will cover his or her study and living expenses for one year. It is expected that, barring unforeseen circumstances, adequate funding will be available from the same or equally dependable sources for subsequent years. The financial guarantee must include living expenses for any dependents as well. Applicants, for whom English is not their first language, are required to demonstrate evidence of mastery of the English language for graduate study. The standard for this is through the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
