The Department of Anthropology offers courses of study leading to the degrees of Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy in Anthropology with concentrations in Archaeology, Cultural Anthropology and Evolutionary Anthropology. The nationally recognized faculty has special strengths in the archaeology of Western North America, the ethnography of contemporary small-scale societies and evolutionary applications to biological anthropology, social anthropology and archaeology. Course work and practical experience familiarize students with human evolution and racial variation, prehistoric development of culture, paleoenvironments, lithic analysis, linguistics, and cultural systems in contemporary Western and nonwestern societies. Our graduates find work in museums, universities, international business, cultural resource management, and a wide variety of related careers.
