The program emphasizes independent research in conjunction with basic and specialized courses, providing the knowledge and experience needed for careers involving independent scientific investigation. Located on the UW campus, students also have access to courses and the expertise of scholars in the departments of Atmospheric Sciences, Geophysics, Geology, Environmental Chemistry, Microbiology, and Zoology.
