On Campus

The professional program in physical therapy, which follows 90 hours of prerequisite study, requires approximately two and a half years and leads to a Master of Physical Therapy (MPT) degree and eligibility for licensure as a physical therapist. During the first year, students complete courses in basic and clinical sciences, and in basic physical therapy evaluation and treatment procedures. Students also are introduced to legal, ethical and professional aspects of physical therapy and management of patients with cardiorespiratory dysfunction. Two full-time clinical experiences occur during the first year. Full-time clinical experiences occur at facilities located in various parts of Texas and surrounding states. The program admits 45 students for the fall semester each year.
