The graduate faculty is comprised of scientists from the Pharmacology Department as well as other departments at the Health Science Center (Anesthesiology, Endodontics, Medicine, Psychiatry and Surgery). Research activities in the Department of Pharmacology are focused primarily in the area of neuropharmacology with an emphasis on both biogenic amine and amino acid neurotransmitter systems. Investigators use research approaches that incorporate molecular, single cell electrophysiological imaging, neurochemical and behavioral techniques. Another group of investigators study the central nervous system regulation of autonomic function.
