Students wishing to pursue an academic degree (MS and PhD) may concentrate in such fields as population genetics, genetic epidemiology, molecular evolution, microbiology and parasitology, and developmental and nutritional and regulatory biology. It is the intent of the Biological Sciences Discipline in the UTSPH to provide the educational framework for students wishing to acquire breadth or depth of knowledge in these fields, and to conduct research advancing our understanding of the role of the biological sciences in major public health problems.
