Our students have combined theories from Cultural Studies, Film, Criticism, Psychoanalysis, Education and others to broaden more traditional theoretical methods which often provide a different perspective on and reading of the texts in their field. This approach, which allows students a certain amount of flexibility, enhances their research skills and forms them to become well rounded scholars. To this end, we allow Ph.D. students, if they wish to do so, to choose to take one of their three Ph.D. Qualifying exams, in a related field, from another department.
