Comprising a large and rapidly expanding body of knowledge of clinical and academic importance, craniofacial biology is concerned both with the normal growth, structure and function of tissues in the head and neck regions and with etiology and pathogenesis of numerous diseases and malformations. It involves studies at various levels of biological organization, from molecular and subcellular to organismic. The program provides graduate training designed to prepare students for entry into academia as clinical scholars or as members of multidisciplinary teams of health professionals within academic centers of clinical and basic health science research.
