The Animal Behavior Program is a joint effort of Psychology and Zoology faculty, leading to the Ph.D. from the home department. An interdisciplinary core faculty offers training in field and laboratory research, with current interests spanning foraging behavior, caching, mating systems, parental conflict and cooperation, sibling competition, predator-prey relations, and communication. The core members of the program study birds, mammals, and insects, principally from an adaptationist perspective. Considerable latitude is granted students wishing to investigate other taxa or behavioral problems.
