Students receive training for careers in basic or applied research in the areas of behavioral and cognitive neuroscience. The program offers a wide range of courses and research opportunities in the areas of functions of cerebral cortex, cognitive neuropsychology, developmental neuroscience, recovery from brain injury, in vivo and in vitro electrophysiology, computational neuroscience, psychopharmacology, developmental psychoneuroendocrinology, and neurobiology of learning and memory. Students are required to complete 5 neuroscience courses beyond those required by the department. In addition, courses and research opportunities are available through associations with the Department of Neuroscience in the Medical School, the VA Medical Center, and local neuroimaging facilities.
