Within the Division of Biological Sciences, 20 faculty share a common interest in the cellular, molecular, developmental and genetic basis of life. They approach this central theme from a variety of perspectives, studying processes that include: morphogenesis, cell adhesion and guided cell movement in early development; organogenesis and cytodifferentiation; regulation of the activity of single genes and gene circuits; signal transduction and membrane structure and function. Their experimental systems include microorganisms, invertebrates, higher plants and animals and cells in culture.
