The strong interdisciplinary focus of research programs in the Division of Biological Sciences provides an especially supportive environment for graduate study. Our highly competitive graduate program encourages integrative approaches to basic problems in the life sciences. Our emphasis on mentoring fosters close relationships among faculty, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows as they work together across disciplines. Our faculty and students participate in interdisciplinary graduate programs supported by training grants from the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, and the U.S. Departments of Agriculture, Energy and Education.
