The program may be combined with interdisciplinary minors in Ancient Studies (9-15 hours in one department other than Art History and Archaeology); Medieval and Renaissance Studies; Historic Preservation (additional 15 hours); Museum Studies (additional 12 hours). The Ph.D. program requires an MA in art history or archaeology or its equivalent; for students whose MA did not require a thesis, the department reserves the right to require a substitute. A total of 42-48 hours are required and the student's program is directed by a Doctoral Program Committee.
