The Department of Microbiology, Molecular Genetics, and Immunology is one of six basic science departments at KU Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas. The department's major focus centers on education and basic biomedical research. Individual faculty research programs fall within the general areas of molecular biology, genetics, immunology, immunochemistry, molecular virology and microbial pathogenesis. Research programs are supported by extramural research grants which also provide support for predoctoral and postdoctoral trainees and visiting scientists.
