The Department of Communication Studies offers a Master of Fine Arts degree for students who wish to pursue creative work with moving images and sound. The students in this three-year program produce a number of short works in film or video. We encourage a variety of approaches to the media emphasizing artistic rigor at all levels. At any one time, our graduate students are producing narrative, expository, poetic, and experimental pieces. Our approach to media production is artisanal in that students develop, direct, edit, and mix their own projects. While students are responsible for all aspects of their work, a community of broadly skilled and multitalented producers is nurtured.
