On Campus

UI's is a small, intense, three-year program that stresses, above all, the craft of writing poetry, fiction, and nonfiction, and promotes a supportive community of writers. Teaching assistantships are available to excellent candidates. Our students and graduates continue to publish books of fiction, memoirs, and collecitons of poetry. Additionally, they have published in the nation's leading journals such as POETRY, THE GEORGIA REVIEW, TIN HOUSE, SHENANDOAH, THE KENYON REVIEW, THE MISSOURI REVIEW, CREATIVE NONFICITON, and others. Our graduates have won the Pushcart Prize, Pushcart Prize Special Mentions, as well as having placed in the ATLANTIC MONTHLY competition. They have also been listed in the BEST AMERICAN ESSAYS.
