The MA and PhD degrees are in literature and creative writing, preparing students for an academic career with a course of study which includes literary criticism, theory, and the history of literature as well as creative writing workshops. The MFA is regarded as a terminal degree in creative writing with its emphasis solidly on the student's fiction or poetry writing.
