The Teacher Education Program (TEP) at the University of Denver helps prepare prospective teachers to manage the many challenges inherent in teaching and helps equip them with the knowledge, skills, and sensibilities that characterize master teachers.

This program is an intensive, integrated, professional learning experience. Students' preparation is enhanced by built-in peer support, high academic standards, and closely supervised field experiences in urban and suburban settings. TEP relies on a faculty well-versed in the demands of practice, who can articulate the theoretical underpinnings of effective instruction. In addition, the program prepares students to take the required Colorado Department of Education Program for Licensing Assessments for Colorado Educators (PLACE) assessments in professional knowledge and content specialties.

TEP is a nine-month program requiring 40 quarter hours of course work and field placement. Classes are held Wednesday evenings and all day Saturdays from September through early March. During this time, students also observe at a public school one day each week. Beginning in March, students complete 12 weeks of full-time student teaching and attend class on Saturday mornings.

Accreditation Information: The Teacher Education Program is approved by the Colorado Department of Education.
