The Department of Immunology offers a Doctor of Philosophy degree through the Graduate School of the University of Colorado. Graduate training leading to the Ph.D. degree includes 45 credit hours of formal course work, four (4) laboratory rotations, an oral comprehensive examination, 45 credit hours of dissertation research, and a final defense of the dissertation. Seminars, journal clubs, and laboratory meetings are also important components of the program. The program of study is designed to provide the student with a comprehensive background and training in Immunology. Studies towards a Ph.D. degree are completed in 4 to 5 years, with the student joining a thesis laboratory after about 12 months in the program.
