The program in medical informatics is designed to provide knowledge of the way information is handled in the health industry. It includes a set of four core courses totaling 16 quarter units -- Data Acquisition in Medicine and Veterinary Medicine (4 units), Electronic Medical Information (4 units); Computer-based Patient Records (4 units); Decision Support Systems in Medicine (4 units) -- and options to take an additional 20 units of scheduled or non-scheduled (independent study) courses to complete the 36 units required for the degree.
