The general linguistics track prepares students for advanced graduate work at the Ph.D. level and is a supplement to studies in related fields. It emphasizes syntax, semantics, phonology, morphology, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, neurolinguistics, and linguistic description (contemporary or historical) of a particular language or language group.
