The Master of Public Health (MPH) program, designed to be an interdisciplinary professional degree program, provides an opportunity for students to obtain broad knowledge and skills in the core areas of public health. Students are able to acquire proficiency in one or more specialized areas through advanced coursework, and gain experience in applying advanced knowledge to the solution of actual health problems in community settings during the internship experience. The MPH offers six areas of concentration: Biostatistics; Environmental and Occupational Health; Epidemiology; Family and Child Health; Health Behavior and Health Promotion; and Public Health Policy and Management. In addition, MEZCOPH offers three Dual Degree Programs, including the MD/MPH Program, the MPH/MA in Latin American Studies, and the MPH/MS in Mexican American Studies. The Doctorate of Public Health (DrPH) is an advanced, professional degree program designed for the student who has an MPH degree or its equivalent and who intends to pursue a leadership career as a public health professional. The DrPH program is unique as it focuses on developing future leaders in public health practice, who will advance the public’s health through the integration and application of a broad range of knowledge and analytical skills in leadership, practice, policy analysis, research, program management, and professional communication. The program is divided into two focus areas, Maternal and Child Health and Public Health Policy and Management.
