Tulane University's Program in International Development is designed for current and prospective development professionals. Courses are interdisciplinary - reflecting the integrated nature of the development process - and taught by world-class faculty trained in economics, political science, public health, environment and related disciplines. The program is based upon the broad framework of Sustainable Human Development and includes an analysis of economic growth, governance, democracy and civil society, health and education, poverty reduction, food security, and environment. The Ph.D. program is offered in New Orleans and the MSc program is available worldwide in a technology-assisted, distance-learning format. The program welcomes students from any academic discipline, and credits may be transferred from previous graduate courses.
The Program also offers a Summer Institute in Conflict, Complex Emergency, and Disaster Management. It consists of four short courses in New Orleans followed by three study abroad programs in Sri Lanka, Cost Rica, and Ecuador respectively. The Summer Institute in full or in segments is open to Tulane and non-Tulane participants. It can be taken in full or in segments for graduate credit or for certificate.
