The curriculum focuses on instrumental techniques, teaching strategies, literature, and the student's own performance skills. Music Performance: The music program prepares students for careers as vocal and instrumental soloists, private studio teachers, church organists, orchestra performers, piano accompanists, and performers in opera. Private lessons are taught by professionals who are active performers, master teachers, clinicians, and adjudicators. Voice, piano, organ, brass, woodwind, and string instruction is available. Music Therapy: TWU provides the only graduate music therapy degree program within Texas public universities. We offer programs leading to the Master of Arts degree and Music Therapy certification. A dual degree, MS in Counseling and an MA in Music with an emphasis in Music Therapy, is also offered. Music Education: A comprehensive graduate degree with an emphasis in music education is provided for those who wish to broaden their knowledge of music education, explore areas of research in music education, and refine their music education techniques.
