Careers may be pursued in a variety of international institutions/organizations and national agencies charged with conducting economic and security interactions worldwide. The 48-credit-hour curriculum consists of a common core of six required courses and a mixture of ten concentrations and electives that allow students to develop a specialization. We offer two tracks, one in International Economics and Development (IED) and the other in National Security Affairs (NS). Concentrations are offered in international economics, international development, transfer pricing, American diplomacy, defense policy, intelligence, international politics, and regional studies (Europe, Middle East, China). A foreign language exam is required to graduate, and in their first summer session, students will take part in either an international-based internship or cultural study. We take a wide-range of majors, but the most common preparation is a liberal arts education.  Pre-Requisite Courses The International Economics & Development track requires a principles/intro to economics (micro or macro) and statistics/research methods. Also of interest are courses in politics of development, international trade, international political economy and intermediate micro or macroeconomics. The National Security track does not have requirements, although they like to see content in international relations/world politics, American foreign policy, 20th century history, diplomatic history.  International Student Requirements Requirements Qualifying Exam: GRE Minimum Exam Score: GPA or Equivalent: n/a English Proficiency: Yes Research Competency: No Clinical Internship: No   Work Experience We like to see at least a few years experience in a relevant public service career, job, and/or internship, but we do not have a work requirement minimum.  Volunteer Experience A leadership component is part of the application process. Although academic factors are the most important aspect of admission, so too is showing your ability to lead in various situations.  Publications Experience Foreign Language Requirement Passing a foreign language test at intermediate low through the American Testing Company is required of all students with English as their primary language.
