Marine Resource Management (MRM) is a science-based, interdisciplinary Master's program based in COAS. Established in 1974, MRM has 180 alumni and 25-30 students in residence at any given time. The MRM faculty is made up of a faculty that includes COAS scientists; other OSU scientists from the Departments of Fisheries and Wildlife, Geosciences, Agricultural and Resource Economics, Bioresource Engineering, Political Science, Sociology, and Anthropology; Sea Grant extension specialists; and scientists and management professionals from state and federal agencies. Proximity to coastal communities with complex fishing, coastal development, wetlands and watersheds, and natural hazards gives students opportunities to address many complex issues, attend regional planning and policy meetings and interact directly with stakeholders. Flexibility in program design to meet each student's needs, interests, and research direction is one of the hallmarks of the MRM program. The MRM program has thesis and nonthesis research options.
