The Department of Anthropology at Minnesota State University, Mankato (MSU) offers Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, and Master of Science degrees in Anthropology. The department has five full-time faculty members, specializing in studies of the following geographic areas: East Africa, East Asia, Europe, and North and South America. The faculty also collaborates with other anthropologists in the gerontology and ethnic studies departments at MSU. Our undergraduate program provides courses in all sub-disciplines of anthropology: archaeology, biological, sociocultural, and linguistic anthropology. The graduate program is devoted to applied anthropology focusing on three areas: archaeology, biological and sociocultural anthropology. Graduate training utilizes fieldwork in practical settings, such as cultural resource management, forensics, and refugee resettlement. Please check out some of our Applied Research Projects.
