The Master of Science degree requires a thesis, while the Master of Engineering degree requires an independent study paper. The Master of Science program is more research oriented; the Master of Engineering program contains more course work in exchange for less research experience.The Doctor of Philosophy degree is strongly research oriented and requires at least 72 semester hours of graduate research and course work plus a dissertation.
