Research conducted in the department covers a broad spectrum, ranging from the isolation and characterization of biomolecules to the understanding of the control of processes in living organisms. Research findings from this department are applied in the areas of nutrition, drugs, agriculture, biotechnology and medicine. The ratio of graduate students to professors (approximately 3 to 1) facilitates an easy exchange of ideas.
