The Toxicology Graduate Program has 32 Faculty and 24 graduate students in thirteen different departments. Toxicology faculty have strengths in several areas including neurtoxicology, agrichemical toxicology, veterinary toxicology, molecular toxicology, and food toxicology. Faculty research includes air quality, analytical chemistry, animal protection, aptamer application, aquatic toxicology, bacterial toxins, behavioral toxicology, biochemical toxicology, bioremediation, biotransformation of toxicants, cancer research, cellular toxicology, developmental toxicology, dietary supplements research, drug metabolism, environmental chemistry, environmental toxicology, food safety, forensic toxicology, ground water toxicology, instrumental analysis, insect toxicology, Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), molecular and genetic toxicology, mycotoxins, neurodegnerative disorders, neuromuscular disorders, nutritional toxicology, parasitology, pesticide research, regulatory toxicology, risk assessment, and teratogenicity. Iowa State has a strong history of focusing on relevant social, environmental and international issues to strengthen food and agriculture for our nation and the world. Iowa State has state-of-the-art biotechnology service and support facilities. The Toxicology program reviews domestic applications upon completion; international applications are reviewed after February 15. Admission is based on faculty interest in the application. New students will join labs directly beginning their research projects or participate in rotations through several labs prior to mutually determining their research project and major professor. We offer a strong core curriculum including courses in toxicology, biochemistry, and statistics. Upon completion of their degree, toxicology graduate students go on to excellent opportunities in academia and in industry. Women and minorities are strongly encouraged to apply.
