M.A.T. - Teaching Social Sciences
On Campus

The MAT degree in Social Sciences is a multi-disciplinary degree designed specifically for secondary teachers certified in the Social Sciences. The degree emphasizes subject areas, while providing a modicum of course work in professional education. Its primary purpose is to improve teaching through mastery of subject areas. Its flexibility allows teachers to emphasize those subjects which they teach as well as to learn the methods specific to teaching those subjects.

This program may be pursued full time during the academic years, or during summers only. A number of courses are also offered in the evenings during the academic year for commuters. Many of the summer and evening classes are designed for social studies teachers.
