Practicum and volunteer teaching opportunities are available in area public schools, intensive language programs associated with junior colleges and universities, ESL support courses for international students newly admitted to the university, and adult ESL programs for immigrants and refugees. Faculty members have taught in Africa, Asia, Europe, and Latin America; in publich schools, private language institutes for adults and children, intensive English programs, and universities outside the U.S. Faculty have wide-ranging interests, from pedagogical issues to exploration of theoretical principles that can help explain second language acquisition patterns.
