Special Education is specially designed instruction to meet the unique needs of students who are markedly different from most children. They may have mental, behavioral, physical, emotional or learning disabilities, ranging from mild to severe; they may be blind/visually handicapped or deaf/hearing impaired; they may be gifted. It differs from general education in its emphasis on individualized planning and instruction.
