Caltech astronomers and astrophysicists study the sun, supernovae, pulsars, stellar structure and evolution,stellar atmospheres, interstellar and intergalactic matter, galaxies and clusters of galaxies, quasars and otherexotic objects, and the structure of the universe. These programs are strengthened by Caltech facilities suchas astronomical observatories, electrostatic accelerators, and a gravity-wave interferometer, as well asoff-campus particle accelerators and spacecraft.
