Degrees: Program Format:
Master's
MA in Mathematics
On Campus

In addition to the conventional master’s degree in pure and applied mathematics, we have the option of a professional master’s degree that serves as either pre-service or in-service training for teachers. It is accessible to both full and part time students and is particularly well-suited for "career switchers" who want to begin teaching or for teachers who wish to upgrade their knowledge. Full-time students can finish their degree in 12 to 15 months and part-time students can complete the degree in two years. Financial aid is available through teaching assistantships; there are also wide opportunities for internships in Washington, DC, with schools, government agencies, and private organizations.

Accreditation Information: American University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association, an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education & the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
